Dear Students,

I wish to congratulate you on the wonderful work that you have accomplished through the Social Entrepreneurs Program organized by Ms. Grosskleg at St. Joseph High School.

In September 2015, Canada and all Member States of the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at the UN General Assembly. This initiative is a global call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.

As the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Canada to the United Nations in New York, one of my principal responsibilities is to work with other countries to help achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

Young people, in Canada and beyond, have been doing amazing work to help the world achieve the SDGs. The social businesses that you have been working on are a great example of how young Canadians can come together to make a difference in their communities. Your efforts to reduce hunger through baking and to make equality a reality in your communities have not gone unnoticed.

Félicitations encore une fois ! Keep up the great work! In these challenging times, your efforts give us hope for a better tomorrow.

Yours sincerely, Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations
Bob Rae

Egale

Egale is the charity that our classroom has decided to choose and we think it would be nice if you would learn about where 100% of the money is going. Egale Canada is a company that supports the 2SLGBTQI+ community and is trying to make the world a better and safer place for all. Egale Canada is also spreading the word and educating the community and is fighting for equal rights.

Gender Equality

Our class picked one of 17 Global Goals. The Goal we picked was Gender Equality. Following this, our board game will be oriented not just around influential women, but also Indigenous peoples, Black peoples, and the LGBTQ2S community.

The OCSB Social Entrepreneurs Program

The OCSB Social Entrepreneurs Program (SEP) is an exciting endeavour for students to partake in an enriching, business-oriented, and student-led initiative where they can gain entrepreneurial experience, develop innovative mindsets and future ready skills to take action and make a difference in the world they live in.
